The Rockingham Uniting Church Opportunity Shop opened in 1970 in a cottage on Rockingham Road. From the very beginning it was about having a place to meet, share and provide access to low cost clothing and household goods, as well as to raise funds for emergency relief and family support and care in Rockingham. Recently the Op Shop has also helped people who need emergency relief and victims of bushfires or famines. There are more than 30 volunteers who are at the very heart and soul of the Op Shop, and many also work in the emergency relief program. They make the Op Shop the success it is and provide practical assistance for people in need.
